Any literary missteps - like some too-easy plot resolutions - are overcome by the power of author S.E. ![]() I legit find myself thinking about this book at random times on a WEEKLY BASIS and getting myself all worked up about it. Our review: Parents say ( 33 ): Kids say ( 279 ): In the battle to get teens to read, The Outsiders is a nuclear missile. Hm nothing else questionable I can think of (if you’re a parent and concerned, I would recommend reading it first, just in case!) - except this book is extremely sad. Drugs/smoking - drugs might be mentioned and characters smoke regularly (r.i.p. ![]() I think there might have been one sexual reference but briefly confuse kids who don’t get it so don’t worry about that if you’re a conservative parent! Gore/blood - a fair amount but nothing a 12 year old could handle (I’m talking about the blood itself, not the actual themes/scenes as some of those could disturb sensitive children!). I also DO NOT agree with the people saying it’s dated, it’s still relevant today and hooked me from the first line (that’s saying something coming from a kid too haha)! ![]()
